Fresh Bread March 13: Getting Into Shape
God knew what He was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to SHAPE the lives of those who love Him along the same lines as the life of His Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity He restored. We see the original and intended SHAPE of our lives there in Him (God’s Son). After God made that decision of what His children should be like, He followed it up by calling people by name. (Romans 8:29, Message Bible)
With the clocks having sprung forward this week and the coming of March 20th on next week, we cannot help but anticipate that Spring is in the air. Warmer weather and longer daylight during the evening hours encourage us to get ourselves into physical shape as we look forward to shedding winter overcoats. But what are we doing to get ourselves into spiritual shape?
The word “SHAPE” is derived from an Old English word meaning “create or form.” As we prepare for Holy Week on next week, let us keep in mind the purpose for which God sent His Son: to take broken lives and FORM them along the same lines as the life of Jesus. In Jesus, we see the original, CREATED intent God had for the human race.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, continue to use every event in my life to shape me into the form and image God intended for my life (Romans 8:26-28).
