Mission
Pentecostal Tabernacle is a Bible-believing church that exists to restore lives broken by the consequences of sin to the place where these very same lives bring glory to God.
We accomplish this by adding SPICE to the lives of every person who comes in contact with our ministry. By SPICE, we mean it is our objective to see people grow Spiritually, Physically, Intellectually, Characteristically and Economically.
The qualities we value as a Bible-believing church are what we call “Our Seven P’s.” By adhering fervently to Prayer, Preaching, Praise; being in Partnership with each other; being a Presence in our community; being Professional in all we do; and operating under the Power of God’s Holy Spirit, we believe we will accomplish the purpose for which we exist.
Beliefs
God
We believe that there is one GOD, eternally existent in three persons: GOD the Father, GOD the Son, and GOD the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
The Deity of Our Lord Jesus Christ
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is GOD the Son (John 1:1-2, 14). We also believe in His:
- Virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:1 & 35),
- Sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; Luke 1:34-35),
- Miracles (Acts 2:22; 10:38),
- Vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 13:4),
- Bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4),
- Ascension to the right hand of God the Father (Acts 1:9; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 10:12), and
- Personal and future return to the earth (Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-10)
The Bible
We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are inspired by GOD, and are the revelation of GOD to all men. As a Bible-believing church we see the Scriptures as the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)
The Church
We believe that the Church consists of people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The Church is also referred to as the Body of Christ because, just as different parts and organs make up and function together to form the human body, so every believer is an integral part of the Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
Marriage and Family
We believe in the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of life. We believe that marriage is a sacrament only to be entered into between a man and a woman. We believe human life to be precious, beginning at conception (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Jeremiah 1:5).
Salvation
We believe that man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Salvation is received by repentance of sin and faith toward God through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and acceptance of the sacrifice that He made on the cross for sin. Being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir (i.e., beneficiary) of God according to the hope of Eternal Life. (John 3:3; Romans 10:9-11 & 13-15; Ephesians 2:8)
The Lord’s Supper
We believe that the Lord’s Supper (aka Communion), consisting of the elements of bread and either wine or grape juice, is a memorial of Christ’s sacrificial suffering and death on the cross of Calvary by way of crucifixion. In this holy sacrament, the bread represents His body that was broken and bruised, and the wine or juice represents His blood that was shed (1 Corinthians 11:23-25). All believers are to observe it until Christ returns (1 Corinthians 11:26).
Water Baptism
We believe that baptism by immersion in water is commanded by the Scriptures. All who repent and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in the newness of life. This ordinance should be administered in the name of the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47-48; and Romans 6:4).
Baptism of the Holy Ghost
We believe that all Christians are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, which is the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. This gift from God gives the believer power for life and service (Acts 1:4-8). The baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is evidenced by the initial physical sign of speaking with an unknown language as the Spirit gives them the ability to speak (Acts 2:4).
A Holy Life
We believe that the Scriptures teach a life of holiness; that is, a life devoted to God and His principles. God expects and empowers His followers to be holy just as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Sanctification
We believe in sanctification (i.e., separation and cleansing) from that which is evil to dedication to God (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 1:12). Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, and by continually allowing himself to be guided, directed, and controlled by the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:1, 8:1-2 & 13; Galatians 2:20).
Justification
We believe justification is a judicial act of God in which He declares that the individual who believes in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior is righteous in His sight. This was accomplished by the act of Christ’s resurrection from the dead (Romans 4:23).
Divine Healing
We believe that divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided in the atoning (compensating) work of Christ and is the privilege of all believers (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16).
The Blessed Hope
We believe in the future resurrection of believers who have died and their translation (transformation) along with those who are alive when Christ returns to bring all His believers to Heaven with Him. This event is also called the “rapture” of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52).
Heaven
We believe in the existence of Heaven, a holy place where God’s throne is, where angels dwell, and where the believer belongs (2 Chronicles 30:27; Matthew 18:10; Philippians 3:20). We also believe that God, according to His promise, will create new heavens and a new earth where righteousness will reign (2 Peter 3:13).
Hell
We believe in the existence of Hell, a place of judgment and torment where unrighteous souls go after death (Luke 16:19-26; Mark 9:43-48). We believe that there will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be resurrected and judged according to their deeds. Anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life (i.e., did not accept Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior) will be condemned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
